Reading is a fundamental skill that plays a crucial role in a child's development, both during their preschool years and in their future academic and personal lives.
Children today are immersed in technology, particularly computers and tablets. As educators and parents, we can capitalize on their digital savvy to reinforce and enhance their learning experiences.
Our program, "Learn to Read Spanish with Phonics," is designed for children aged 3 to 6 or 7, as well as adults seeking to improve their pronunciation. It utilizes a systematic approach that includes letter tracing exercises and 30 structured lessons, beginning with vowels and progressing through consonants such as L, M, S, T, P, N, D, F, H, C, Q, CH, G, GUE, R, -rr-, B, V, G, J, GE, GUE, Y, Z, CE, LL, X, and K.
Each lesson comprises 11 engaging games that are available at two different difficulty levels. This resource is ideal for parents and teachers who wish to provide opportunities for children to practice the first syllables and words in Spanish. We encourage children to listen attentively and attempt the exercises without the expectation of complete comprehension.
It is important to remember that learning to read is a gradual process that can span more than a year. We recommend setting aside a few minutes each day for reading practice and periodically revisiting previously covered material. Additionally, it is crucial to maintain an element of fun throughout the learning experience.
Our program offers two difficulty levels for all games. Children progress at their own pace and have the flexibility to pause a game and return to it later. As children successfully complete games, they are rewarded with fruits as a form of motivation.
The first difficulty level is suitable for three-year-olds and, in some cases, can be completed with guidance from parents or educators. The second level is more challenging and prompts children to work independently. However, it is vital to remember that learning should always be enjoyable and never exert undue pressure on the child.
As parents or guardians, we recommend adjusting the difficulty level to suit the child's abilities. It is important not to push children excessively to complete a level or move on to the next stage prematurely.
This program cultivates various skills and abilities that are instrumental in the reading process. These include:
- Visual and auditory memory
- Letter identification and association
- Syllable discrimination
- Comprehension
- Literacy
Our program also offers various customizable options to tailor the learning experience further. On the home screen, users can enable or disable background music and choose to play in full-screen mode. Within the Tikis menus, users can adjust the font style between uppercase, lowercase, and cursive handwriting, enable or disable automatic activity switching, and shuffle syllables.
To track individual progress, users can create up to three profiles (avatars) for different children. Each profile displays progress at each difficulty level, along with a breakdown of correct and incorrect answers. Progress is represented through an interactive fruit basket feature. Additionally, for a more comprehensive overview of progress, users can access reports by clicking on the "Reports" button at the Tikis screen.
In addition to our comprehensive program, we offer a new game called "The Alphabet." This game allows children to listen and learn to write each letter of the alphabet, as well as syllables and selected words. Three modes are available: tracing, copying, and free form. Users can also choose between three letter styles: uppercase, lowercase, and cursive handwriting.
For each lesson, there are 11 engaging games that provide interactive learning opportunities:
- Dolphin: Word and syllable presentation
- Balloons: Letter identification within syllables
- Clouds: Tracing syllable shapes
- Crabs: Syllable formation from individual letters
- Butterflies: Syllable identification
- Bees: Identification of initial syllables in words
- Snake: Word formation using syllables
- Monkeys: Word formation from letters
- Parrots: Word recognition and reading
- Mouse: Organizing words and sentences for reading
- Snails: Sentence formation from words
